Character Angles

Some great characters started forming in Everwhere last night; minor characters, people and creatures there to do little more than to fill out some exposition and splash a little colour and social background to the world. It's nice to know i can introduce them, do as i wish with their lives and then put them away, never to return, or to return later and make it look like i planned the whole thing.

A main character is giving me trouble though. I need him to be likeable, because... well... he's a main character. But he needs a universal nastiness to him that can still tap into that little part of the brain that knows it's fun to smash things, and lives... and people... Also undecided whether i want him to be empathised with, or really... do i just want a stock villain as a placeholder for a bigger reveal? Oooooh!

Everwhere - Kingmaker - Day 1

Taking a new approach, since film work has gotten very heavy recently and i've not had the time to dedicate to writing that i normally would. As a result, City Of The Dead and The Passing Way are on hold, projects that are just too big to focus on right now. Instead, i'm releasing a story chapter by chapter. There's no defined deadline and no real pressure to have it done all at once. So here it is!

Kingmaker Day 1

PDF format currently unavailable. But this flash player is very nice!

The Passing Way: Chapter 1 - Where Daylight Has Not Touched The Earth

Click to Download; The Passing Way - Chapter 1

So here it is; Chapter 1 of my first novel.
It's unapologetically old fashioned, styled very much after my favourites, Howard, Lovecraft, Ashton-Smith and Dunsany-- so please, for your own health do NOT try reading this aloud, some of the sentences span entire paragraphs. it borders on the ridiculous.

Critique is very much welcome, if you've come to this blog via a Facebook link then by all means publically post your thoughts there. This page merely acts as a place to host the download link and for me to keep  track of who's seen it. Unfortunately it's only in PDF format for now.

Eventually it'll be released through Amazon as a Kindle-only book, depending of course on how much money i have at time of publishing.

Enjoy!
